  Becca arranged for her and me to go to a Paint Your Pet class Dec 10 2015 They provided the paint and canvas. They drew some pencil outlines from a photo  submitted in advance.  We mixed our own colors and in 3 or so hours, all had reasonable portraits of our animals.

  I know that I have been truly adopted by my newest cat, because, yesterday (6days after bringing him home), he followed me to the bathroom, and scratched on the door to get in.   He was rehomed from the niece of Jenna, my expert nail lady, who had him in an apartment that had a no-pets rule.

  So, long story long...  I never look at the local Dog Pound FB page. But somehow, one of my friends reposted a few pictures of Gray man. I've wanted cat since my old lady cat got hit by a car, but I didn't want a kitten. I talked to Jerry, called the pound. They don't do cats, but post pictures to help people out. They gave me a number. I called.   It seems that this cat lived mostly outside with 4 other cats and at least one dog. His owner died. That person's son re-homed the others, and Grayman was left, alone, outside an empty house, and was fed twice a day. The son offered to get him neutered and vaccinated, and we picked up the cat from the vet.  As soon as he came out of the crate, he slunk downstairs, and then UNDER the stairs. He didn't come out for 30 hours. During that time, I took him some food, and he ate. The second time I took him food, He came to the laundry room, and actually let me touch him for a second. This is KnitPicks Hawthorne, which I have used often, and love. However, this color rubs off on my fingers as I knit. I have a pair of socks I made for myself that still to this day continue to leak color when I wash them. I asked Zoe if she was willing to hand wash these - possibly forever. She said she would.

My brother, Kermit Day passed away very suddenly in January. He was a joy to be around. He wrote me lovely long letters, and showed me one of his favorite places to visit - Johnson's Shut-ins in central eastern MO. As a nurse, he used to go on medical missions, and learned some Spanish so that he could talk with his patients better.

I sure wish we could see them more often - well, we will when the weather improves.
