Ms Grundy again

 In an attempt to get more organized, I ordered and built a new cabinet on casters: It has a door with a shelf, and five drawers. I put it together totally by myself. The instructions had no words - only very detailed, and excellent pictures. It turns out that I had to take several breaks, lost a lot of sweat, and managed to bruise both my palms.

Also, found a curtain - WAY buried in the closet-that-will-not-be-emptied d. Well- a drape, actually, with light-darkening sealer on the back of the fabric. Now, I live in the country - WAY in the country. Few people pass by. Because of the way our house and the roads are situated, no one can randomly see in our windows. And our house was constructed Southwest-style, which is to say that the sheet rock wraps around the window insets, and there is no wood trim (no baseboards either, but that's a different story...) So we didn't want curtains at all. But at night those black squares are disconcerting. In the summer, large south-facing windows heat up the house, and of course, in the winter I can feel the cold coming in through the north. So I gradually added curtains on spring-pressure shower-curtain rods inside the window areas. There were only two windows left without curtains, and here I found the material already bought (probably ten or more years ago). So...

My grandmother, Ola Mae Day's  Toby Jugs on display in the Pierce City library My friend Gloria, who works in the library, asked if I had any collections. I said, not really, but I had a collection that was my Mom's... They are displayed with a few geodes that are my collection, but not enough for a display by themselves. These are Royal Doulton, made in England, at least 30 years old, and some of them bought around 1941.

Blue pearl granite reflects whatever color you are wearing. Love the black sink, but it does show hard water spots ... This has be en underway since October. First we waited months for the ordered granite counters. Then more months for the ordered granite tiles. Also got new outlets and switches - charcoal rectangles surrounded by brushed stainless. Also got new LED under-cabinet lighting.

What's for dinner?  A tablespoon of roast beef, please? My daughter's new puppy Fifi - at 1.6 pounds, way smaller than Bridget, my 12 pound Min-Pin. - Pug, a mix, at over 20 pounds. She's a morkie - a Maltese/Yorkie mix. That little piece of rawhide - pre-chewed, thanks to the big dogs, is less than 2" long.

I have a large closet, so the temptation is great to fill it. But one thing that I do with my clothes closet is fantastic. I have a limited number of hangers. If all my clothes are clean, and I don't have enough hangers - something must go! I am not buying any more hangers - my wardrobe must fit on the space and within the limits. When I make or buy something new, something else must go. Of course, I have some things that will never leave, for sentimental reasons - a few of my own baby clothes, saved all those years by my mom, some of my Mom's old dresses, and two Chinese silk dresses that once fit me as if designed for me. The navy blue has aged not so gracefully into an ugly purple. The teal one is still wearable - but floor length, and I used to wear it when I chaperoned proms. Those times are gone, but the dress remains. I am sure I am still too large for it, but some day.... I have a dress rack, with some that are too large, some that are too small, some that fit, so...
