sewing adventures to date

I have four go-to patterns that I use all the time. TNT, if you will. I love the fit, and have adjusted the shape over years to my shape- pants, underwear, tee-shirts, and a woven shirt with forward yoke, gathers instead of darts, and a convertible collar. I was wanting a pattern for some raw silk (silk noil) woven shirts that reproduced some I had in 1995- a more traditonal shirt with a standard collar. I preferred no darts, but as I wear size 38 triple D bras, I pretty much must have a dart.

Last month, I dug out some old patterns that I had bought (on sale, of course) and never used. I made a top in a pattern specifically designed for plus sizes. Hated it. Into the goodwill bag. Last week, I tried an old pattern that I had made at least twice before, but never wore much. I thought it might have been the fabric choice. Tried a more flowy rayon challis. Hated it ! Hated the fit, the fabric, the color... Binned it, both the top and the pattern.

Although I still have at least 5-6 patterns I have never sewn, none of them are what I want. My pattern from 95 is a radically different size. So I ordered 2 Butterick patterns (also on sale -Yeah!) and received them a couple days ago.

But in the meantime, last weekend I cut out 2 pr pants, black ponte and a navy crossweave linen that really looks gray from a distance. Also 3 knit tops in floral print rayon that have a gray background (one is monochrome gray). Also, gathered parts and pieces together - enough for six pair of underwear. (I also had leg elastic in black, and foldover elastic for waists in black and multicolors in my stash. Never know when I might have enough scraps for underwear.)

So far this week I have finished one pr of underwear, started the second, sewn 3 tops all the way to hemming, and the pants are done to elastic and hemming. So clearly I would be able to finish at least 11 pieces this weekend. But first I am going to make bread today. Let's see what happens.
