Aquarelle green Oct 30

So lately, I have got back a little bit to cross stitching. Designed by Anna Gutova for   artmishka It was all ready to go in the frame, but I could see the light- colored half squares at the tops of the dark windows. So I went back and stitched dark half-squares over the original colors. The original pattern had circle - triangle things between the upper windows, but I didn't like that, so I changed it. about 8" by 10"

my weaving beginnings

A long time ago The Pierce City Arts Council had a class/display area in the buildings a block over from the Library. Various artists did classes. A friend of mine (a library patron who introduced me to SW MO Fiber Folks) did a class on weaving. Now, years ago Jerry had done some weaving classes, never got a loom, didn't carry through with it. Anyway, she loaned me a table top loom, and I took her class. First assignment was to weave 4 identical mug rugs. Well, I didn't. I did, however, weave 4 very similar ones, and this is one: All made from her supplied warp, and the weft was leftover sock yarns. Then I bought some yarn, and wove this: A while later, I took a class from Dorothy Cliff, in Granby MO. She also loaned me a loom owned by  the Fiber Folks. But for weft, she uses old sheets. Then I experimented weaving twill: I did enjoy it - but not enough, I think, to buy a loom and start an entire new craft.

Jerry made up a box for the cat, using a box and a tee-shirt or two. He sprinkled catnip inside. Now he refers to it as "the drug den"

Becca arranged for her and me to go to a Paint Your Pet class Dec 10 2015 They provided the paint and canvas. They drew some pencil outlines from a photo  submitted in advance.  We mixed our own colors and in 3 or so hours, all had reasonable portraits of our animals.

I know that I have been truly adopted by my newest cat, because, yesterday (6days after bringing him home), he followed me to the bathroom, and scratched on the door to get in.   He was rehomed from the niece of Jenna, my expert nail lady, who had him in an apartment that had a no-pets rule.
