tiny tiny quilt

Made this piece many years ago - from a book called Miniatures in Minutes by Terrie Sandelyn. They lied. It took me an entire day to create this less than 8" square from scraps left from another make. But I never finished it. I didn't have any fabric for borders. Finally finished it - completely - on July 21st. As you can see, those 169 squares are about 1/2 an inch each.

cashmere sweaters

Many years ago, I frequented a place called Half of Half Price stores. Great items, very low prices, but you had to be careful. They were stained, or had holes, or were marked the wrong size...   But one of the things I found there were cashmere cardigans. Gorgeous, glorious, so soft and warm - only slightly too small for me. I got three - a black one, a red one, and a light blue one. I wore them at home all the time. (I'm always chilly.)  Eventually, they developed holes. (apparently moths love cashmere even more than wool. Also, the neck stitches wore out. SO I repaired the neck.   Because I loved them so much, I ordered a cashmere cardi from Land's End last December. Also, last December, I discovered the Speedweave darning tool (and its clones) and repaired the holes in my cashmere. That makes me happy.

My bread making has improved

I found a video of a baker doing sourdough stretch-and-folds, and incorporated that into my timing for the Pantry Mama Sourdough Discard Bread Loaf. https://www.pantrymama.com/easy-sourdough-discard-sandwich-bread/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQHevpV2bEQ   Mind-blowing! and the quality of my bread has vastly improved. I am so proud and happy!

Pantry Mama Sourdough Discard Sandwich loaf

About a month ago, I ordered sourdough starter from Amazon. I started it, fed it, etc. I made waffles from the discard, and Jerry said they were the best he's ever tasted. I made bread. Dense, chewy, but (minimally) edible. I continued to feed, discard, etc. I made waffles again. Again delicious. I made bread again. Again dense, but (maybe) better(?) Today I tried the Pantry Mama discard sandwich bread recipe. I made several mistakes. I added honey. It was an amazingly soft dough. It rose so much that it overflowed the pans onto the baking stone while rising, and then when I removed them to clean up the mess, they fell. So I punched them down and let them rise a third time. Apparently, they're OK - they taste good.

I used 3 balls of Mayflower Sockwool to make 4 socks, with just a smidge left over. Again, I modified the pattern. It included a lacy twist to the left. When I did the second sock, I changed it to a lacy twist to the right.

The seller of this yarn provides a photo of this yarn made up into a knee-sock. Comes with a free sock pattern. NOT, to be sure, a knee-sock pattern. NOR is there enough yarn to actually make  knee-socks. Comes in a "kit" -  2 balls of yarn - not enough to make knee-socks.

First of all, do these socks look like the provider's picture? No intermingling from one color to the next. Comes with a free sock pattern. NOT, to be sure, a knee-sock pattern. NOR is there enough yarn to actually make  knee-socks. Comes in a "kit" -  2 balls of yarn - not enough to make knee-socks.
