Bonnie Hunter, You got me again!

I have done several Bonnie Hunter Quiltville mysteries over the years: Easy Street, Celtic Solstice, En Provence. I bought a few fat quarters for variety, but mostly had all the fabric I needed for them. I started Rhododendron Way, and still have several Blocks of tiny burgundy triangles with white backgrounds. But I didn't like the pink parts and the tiny aqua strips, so I never finished that one. I could, or I could change the colors, but I haven't yet.

Last year, Indigo Way grabbed me - I had lots of those colors, and finished the entire mystery with just the scraps I had on hand

This year's mystery, Old Town, the color combination puzzled me. I wasn't sure about the coral/peach and aqua with the bright red, but I had some coral and some aqua, and lots of red, so... But, then she asked us to make 4-patches that will end up only 2" square in the quilt, and I think that's too small for me. I have already got some parts done, so I'll get all the steps, but hold off until I see the finish.

I went to Quiltville to download the next installment, and something grabbed me.

Moonflower!

I had to get this pattern! I have to make this quilt! I have already started cutting, and making some of the half-square-triangles! But i have no charcoal colored fabric! NONE! I thought I had some linen left over from some summer trousers, but NO!

So I did order a couple pieces of fabric, but if I like it, and want to make the quilt bigger, I may need to buy even more. Me, the one with an entire wall of fabric...
(Got to find those Oriental pieces. I think they're more black than charcoal, but we'll see...)

The first dark gray arrived - but no! It looks kind of brown, or even a little purple! Yuck!
Then 2 more - one was supposed to be dark and one light. But they are both dark. I'll use them, but...

So I went to my super small local fabric shop, only open 3 days a week, and the ancient lady there, who is unbelievably slow moving (I love her!), cut me three light grays. (They actually lean a little to the blue side, but I'll use them! I have many pieces already cut, and will sew some more half-square triangles today!

I currently (Feb 20) have 28 blocks done - need 36 - but had to order more charcoal fabric, and the snow has kept us from getting deliveries or checking the mailbox.
